Golden Bear winner Peter Mackie Burns has started shooting his London-set debut feature Daphne, production company The Bureau has revealed. Emily Beecham [pictured] - who features in the cast of Berlinale opening film Hail, Caesar! - plays the titular Daphne, a young Londoner with a frenetic lifestyle who decides she needs to change her life after witnessing a violent robbery. The Bureau producers Tristan Goligher and Valentina Brazzini developed the project in-house. The BFI and Creative Scotland are the main financiers of the film, together with The Bureau. The company’s Paris-based sister company, The Bureau Sales, is handling international rights. Mackie Burns won the Golden Bear for best short film in 2005 for Milk, a吸血鬼骑士粤语bout a girl trying to bathe her grandmother. Nico Mensinga wrote the screenplay for Daphne in his second collaboration with Mackie Burns after the short Happy Birthday To Me, also starring Beecham. The Daphne shoot kicks-off amid a high-profile year for The Bureau following the success of Andrew Haigh’s 45 Years, which won two Silver Bears for the lead performances of Charlotte Rampling and Tom Courtenay in Berlin last year, with Rampling also receiving an Oscar nomination, and is up for Outstanding British Film at tonight’s Baftas. “Peter Mackie Burns has made some visceral performance driven shorts including the award-winning Milk,” said Lizzie Francke, BFI senior production and development executive. “It is great to be able to support him on the next stage of his film career

Set in the idyllic, beachside hamlet of Dolphin Cove, Return to Paradise is six gripping, twisting and fiendishly clever murder mysteries – all against the spectacular backdrop of the Australian coastal landscape. Australian ex-pat Mackenzie Clarke is the seemingly golden girl of the London Metropolitan police force – with an intuitive approach to detective work, she has built a reputation for being able to crack the most impossible of cases. However, she’s suddenly forced to up sticks and move back to her childhood home of Dolphin Cove, a beautiful, coastal paradise… and Mackenzie’s worst nightmare. Long out of circulation, Deep Throat Part II was conceived as a soft-core sequel to the highly successful Deep Throat. The film was written and directed by sexploitation virtuoso Joe Sarno and shot on 35mm in the New York City area in early 1973. It was released in the U. S. in early 1974 with an MPAA "R" rating and quickly disappeared; porn journalist Al Goldstien, writing in Screw, called it "the worst film I have ever seen." The existing U. S. version of the film now on DVD is bowdlerized; the Italian DVD release version contains the film's original soft-core sex scenes. There has long been an urban legend that the film was shot hardcore and that the hardcore sex scenes were "stolen" while the film was in post-production; this claim seems extremely dubious and director Joe Sarno himself has insisted in interview that only soft-core sex scenes were shot for the film. Deep Throat Part II is Linda Lovelace's second feature film (she only officially starred in three). A young Judy Tenuta (comedienne) has a walk-on cameo. The film is one of Sarno's rare comic efforts and contains an unusually polished soundtrack featuring tunes written by, among others, former members of Jay and the Americans.
